The children below decided to enter a poetry competition, arranged by Young Writers. There poems were successful and were chosen to have their work published in a poetry book. Congratulations for all of your hard work and success.
I was hanging around minding my own business,
When all of a sudden
A group of people came towards me.
I looked to my side and saw a stranger,
Who said, ‘These people are bad, let’s fly!’
‘I can’t fly but I can try.’
Then all of a sudden,
I pushed myself up but not very high.
They were getting closer
And I was very high up in the sky.
I could see the clouds begging against me.
I felt strong and powerful
And I know I would get away.
Finally I came down and touched the ground.

A sign of Beauty

Carelessness apys,
It has lots of thorns.
It will laugh whilst you're bleeding,
As your skin gets torn.

It's wild like a wolf,
It's gentle like the breeze
And it has a burning sense of humour.
It's easy to please.

It is loved worldwide
But don't be fooled by its pose.
It has dark secrets,
Beware of the crimson rose.

Fame and Fotune

Oh to be famous
Oh to be rich
This is what I dream of when I’m in my bed
Kiss my mum goodnight then turn turn off the light
Dreaming is a place where I like to go
Where every wish comes true
Everywhere sparkles
Everywhere shines
The camera crew follow me
But it’s fine.

Heaven and Hell

Will I go to Heaven or will I go to Hell?
I guess the angels will decide,
I think the demons will as well.
The angels will be prancing
And the demons will be dancing.
Heaven is for the good,
Hell is for the bad.
I’m hoping to end up happy
As I don’t like being sad.
The demons dwell upon your sin
But angels want us all to win.

The Sparkly Rainbow

Once there was a rainbow as fine as can be

It was over there by the sparkly sea.
It would shine and shine for evermore
But only if I could cross the shimmering shore.
But one instant morning I knew this day would come
As the sun shone and the birds started to tweet.
I suddenly woke up from under my lovely sheet.
I knew I would meet him across the sea,
The sparkly rainbow, just him and me.

Genie Combined

Once there was a genie as kind as can be,
She would swim in the sea and fly over the water,
Run through the deserts as fast as me,
She would meet this boy across the sea
And his name was Harry
And he would say, ‘Wee, wee, wee!’
Each day they would go on exciting adventures,
Their ship was magical so they could fly.
Harry once saw a gem and they found a map,
The map led them to a very pretty cap,
The cap led them to a mermaid
That gave them a clue...

The Star of My Dreams

I went to bed to rest my head,
And found it hard to sleep,
I closed my eyes and to my surprise
It works, counting sheep.
There was something different,
But I was in my bed
That’s it, there is no longer a ceiling above my head.
I looked around, up and down
And saw a twinkle from afar...
It was a different, friendly shining star.
It lowered down and asked to play,
Like I’ve always wanted to...
‘I’m your Nanny Jayne.
I shall hide and you shall seek
But I’ve watched you play before,
Don’t be cheeky and peek.’
We played, we danced and how we joked,
I can’t wait to dream now I’ve awoke.

If The World Will End

We must save the world because it may end
Because the demons might attack you!
The plague might spread, whahahaha!
We should make the world not end.

In reception this week we have had lots of fun looking at The Gingerbread Man story! We have talked about what the characters look like, what they do in the story and even made our very own yummy gingerbread men! We have worked on our phonics skills and practiced using our sounds to write the character’s names and writing our own captions for pictures in the story.

In maths we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes. We have compared 2D and 3D shapes and discussed how 2D shapes are “flat” and 3D shapes are “solid”. We had lots of fun being detectives and using magnifying glasses to find different shapes within our room!

Jamie and Ben

On Wednesday 11th of January 20 people from year 6 went to the Apple store in lakeside. While we were there, we made a short movie on our aspirations for the future. Each person who went there received an Apple T-Shirt, a wristband memory stick to put our movie on (and to keep) and a certificate. We really enjoyed this and would love to do some more film editing.

On Wednesday 11th January 2017, 20 students from year 6 were chosen to go to the Apple Store (Lakeside). We were chosen because of our behaviour, attendance and always doing our homework. We were congratulated by our year 6 class teachers for our astonishing actions. When we arrived we were greeted by two men named Lee and Amil. They showed us to the mac books and produced our very own movies in partners, of our aspirations for in the future. This project was placed onto a U.S.B wrist band for us and our families to revisit. However, we also received an Apple t-shirt and a certificate with our names on. Each and everyone really enjoyed ourselves (even the teachers). Although, we had a very short time (nighty minutes) we all enjoyed ourselves very much. Furthermore, we developed more skills from this experience. Being very grateful we thanked the helpers so much.
